## 2.0.1 — Package links and API documentation

* Updated npm repository and issue links to [GitHub](https://github.com/ozgurugurlu/cognitio-agent-sdk), and the package homepage to this documentation site.
* Added working documentation, example and support links to the npm README.
* Corrected API descriptions for tool restrictions, custom tool input validation, runtime ownership and file rewind.

SDK APIs and runtime behavior are unchanged from 2.0.0. The bundled runtime remains `1.14.19+cognitio.runtime.4`.

```sh theme={null}
npm install cognitio-agent-sdk@2.0.1
```

## Documentation update — September 30, 2026

These are documentation and example improvements for the existing **2.0.0** package; they do not require an SDK upgrade.

* Reworked the [quickstart](https://cognitio-agent.mintlify.site/quickstart.md) into a complete Node.js project with credentials, code, and a run command.
* Added a [built-in tools catalog](https://cognitio-agent.mintlify.site/concepts/built-in-tools.md), including tool IDs, model-specific availability, and permission guidance.
* Expanded the [cookbooks](https://cognitio-agent.mintlify.site/cookbook/examples.md) with complete source code, expected output, and GitHub links.
* Clarified session ownership, cancellation, cleanup, and the distinction between default configuration isolation and an operating-system sandbox.
* Separated the [SDK reference](https://cognitio-agent.mintlify.site/api-reference/index.md) from the advanced [runtime HTTP protocol](https://cognitio-agent.mintlify.site/http-api/overview.md).
* Added detailed [troubleshooting](https://cognitio-agent.mintlify.site/troubleshooting.md) and [support](https://cognitio-agent.mintlify.site/support.md).
* Corrected the session-memory example to use `Session.send(prompt)` and documented `Session.interrupt()` for cancellation.

## 2.0.0 — First public Cognitio release

Install the release from npm:

```sh theme={null}
npm install cognitio-agent-sdk@2.0.0
```

Cognitio Agent SDK is built on OpenCode and packages the agent runtime with the JavaScript/TypeScript SDK. No separate OpenCode installation is required.

### Included capabilities

* **Agent APIs:** reusable `Agent` instances, streamed `query()` tasks, and explicit `createAgentClient()` ownership.
* **Tools:** built-in file and shell tools, application callbacks, hosted MCP tools, and external MCP connections.
* **Conversations:** sessions, resume, fork, streaming events, and cancellation.
* **Control:** permission rules and callbacks, lifecycle hooks, and subagent delegation.
* **Output and state:** structured output, eligible-file checkpoints and rewind, and context compaction.
* **Operations:** multi-provider model selection, usage/cost reporting, and local or remote runtime connections.

### Installation and defaults

The package includes matching runtime packages for supported macOS, Linux, and Windows platforms. It supports Node.js 22+ and Bun, and starts locally with isolated configuration and temporary state by default. The bundled runtime compatibility version is `1.14.19+cognitio.runtime.4`.

Read [installation](https://cognitio-agent.mintlify.site/installation.md) for platform details, [runtime defaults](https://cognitio-agent.mintlify.site/defaults-and-isolation.md) for state lifetime, and the [v2 migration guide](https://cognitio-agent.mintlify.site/migration/v2.md) when moving an existing application.

### Compatibility

Cognitio has its own public API and supports multiple model providers. The [Claude Agent SDK migration guide](https://cognitio-agent.mintlify.site/migration/claude-agent-sdk.md) maps concepts and explains differences; it is not a drop-in package replacement.
